Snowmass Village Ditch Trail

We've started looking for new hikes in Snowmass and the ditch trail is a great run or hike with the kid.

Snowmass Chili and Brew Festival

We were super excited to go to the Chili and Brew Fest this year.  Bought tickets for us, my parents, and even a ticket for Kate.

Saturday turned out to be a shit show.  Too many people, long lines, 40 minutes for a beer and the chili was out on the mall so we didn't even get a taste.

I still love this event, but we'll be going on Friday next year, in hopes of actually enjoying some chili and beer.  Pretty disappointing, but we still had a good time...

We're Back!

Phew! We left our blog out in the cold for the last several months, but we're back.  And now for the big news... we moved from Aspen to Snowmass Village.

Our new place is on the golf course at Fairway III and we love it.  Very quiet and lots of fun for Stella and Kate just right out the back door.  While we get settled, we are also trying to make a few changes.  Here are the first of a few "before and after" shots.

Our Laundry Closet: the previous owners took the washer and dryer and left behind some shelving that was barely attached to the wall.  We pulled it down, cleaned and painted, installed a new washer and dryer, and some cabinets from Habitat for Humanity Re-Store ($90) and voila!  We still need a light, but I love doing laundry in here.  The washer is the LG 3.7 Cu. Ft. High Efficiency Top-loading (matching dryer) and so far it works great on all our loads.  We can fit twice the clothes, since there is no agitator, and they seem to all come out very clean and well rinsed (a problem we had with our Duet HE - the soap residue built up in bulky items like towels and diapers). I've watched many a rinse cycle and there is plenty of water and it is all clear, no soap suds left in the rinse.  The ability to have more water when you need it is a huge benefit to the top-loading HE versus front-loading HE. Plus I love being able to program my own custom wash cycle for Kate's cloth diapers.  I can set it to soak, do a long, hot wash, two rinses and start at 4:00 AM so that the diapers are ready for the dryer in the morning.

The cabinets are great for additional storage!  Right now, Patrick is using them for all of his fly-tying gear.

Enjoy!
